Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar. Stir in the vanilla extract and eggs one at a time until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in 1 cup of chocolate chips.
  5. Spread the brownie batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  6. In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  7. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  8. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  9. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in the remaining 1 cup of chocolate chips.
  10. Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough over the brownie batter. Use a knife or spatula to gently spread the cookie dough to cover the brownie batter.
  11. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  12. Let cool completely in the pan before cutting into bars.
