Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup mirin
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 green bell pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 red onion, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • Wooden or metal skewers

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, mirin, honey, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic to make the teriyaki marinade.
  2. Reserve about 1/4 cup of the marinade for basting.
  3. Add the steak cubes to the remaining marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.
  4. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  5. Thread the marinated steak cubes and the bell pepper and onion pieces onto the skewers, alternating them.
  6. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  7. Grill the skewers for 8-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the steak is cooked to your desired doneness and the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  8. Baste the skewers with the reserved teriyaki marinade during the last few minutes of grilling.
  9. Remove from grill and let rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a deeper flavor, marinate the steak overnight.
  • You can substitute sirloin with other tender cuts like ribeye or flank steak.
  • Serve with rice or a side salad for a complete meal.
  • Consider this a great option for meal planning.
