A classic sweet and salty dessert with a crunchy pretzel crust, a creamy cheesecake-like filling, and a sweet strawberry topping. Perfect for potlucks and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups crushed pretzels
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 2 (3 ounce) packages strawberry gelatin
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 (10 ounce) package frozen strawberries, thawed and slightly mashed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine crushed pretzels, melted butter, and ¼ cup sugar. Press mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. Bake for 10 minutes. Let cool completely.
  4. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese, 1 cup sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Fold in the thawed whipped topping until well combined.
  6. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust.
  7. In a separate bowl, dissolve the strawberry gelatin in boiling water. Stir in the thawed strawberries.
  8. Chill the gelatin mixture until slightly thickened, about 30-45 minutes.
  9. Pour the thickened gelatin mixture over the cream cheese layer.
  10. Chill the dessert for at least 4 hours, or until firm.

Notes

  • For a firmer crust, you can bake it a few minutes longer.
  • Ensure the cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps.
  • Thaw the whipped topping completely before folding it in.
  • Do not over-thicken the gelatin mixture, or it will be difficult to pour.
