Cook frozen shrimp directly in your air fryer for perfectly tender results in under 15 minutes. This simple, no-thaw method is ideal for quick weeknight meals or appetizers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb frozen, raw, peeled and deveined shrimp (medium or large size)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil or cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Take the frozen shrimp directly from the freezer. Do not thaw them.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss the frozen shrimp with olive oil or cooking spray until lightly coated.
  3. In a small dish, combine the garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle this seasoning mix over the shrimp and toss again until the shrimp are evenly seasoned.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C) for 3 minutes.
  5. Place the seasoned frozen shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Work in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding, which prevents crisping.
  6. Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes. Halfway through the cooking time (around 4 or 5 minutes), shake the basket well to flip the shrimp.
  7. Continue cooking until the shrimp are opaque and pink throughout. The total cook time depends on the size of the shrimp, but generally ranges from 8 to 12 minutes for perfectly cooked, juicy air fryer frozen shrimp.
  8. Remove immediately and serve with your choice of dipping sauce or add to your meal.

Notes

  • For breaded frozen shrimp, cook at 400°F (200°C) for 10 to 12 minutes, shaking halfway.
  • If you want a slight crisp, you can lightly spray the shrimp again with oil before the final few minutes of cooking.
  • This recipe works well for quick appetizers or as a component for tacos or salads.
