Create flaky, buttery baked ham and cheese croissants filled with savory ham and melted cheese. This simple recipe is perfect for a quick breakfast, an impressive brunch centerpiece, or a satisfying snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 store-bought crescent rolls (like Pillsbury)
  • 4 slices deli ham, thinly sliced
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese or cheddar cheese
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 teaspoon water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean surface. Separate the dough into 8 triangles.
  3. Place one slice of ham and one slice of cheese onto the wide end of each dough triangle.
  4. Roll each triangle up tightly, starting from the wide end and rolling toward the point. Place the rolled croissants seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the beaten egg and water to create an egg wash. Brush the tops of the croissants evenly with the egg wash.
  6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly on the baking sheet before serving warm.

Notes

  • For an extra savory flavor, lightly brush the tops with melted butter immediately after removing them from the oven.
  • You can prepare these ahead of time; assemble the croissants, cover them, and refrigerate for up to 4 hours before baking. Add 2-3 minutes to the bake time if baking directly from the refrigerator.
  • Use Gruyère cheese for a richer, nuttier flavor profile that pairs well with ham.
