A Cajun-spiced tuna steak with a restaurant-style crust, cooked in 10 minutes on a grill, skillet, or air fryer. This recipe includes doneness temperatures and a pairing suggestion for avocado-mango salsa.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tuna steaks (6 oz each)
  • 1 tablespoon blackened seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Optional: Avocado-mango salsa for serving

Instructions

  1. Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels.
  2. Rub both sides of the tuna steaks with blackened seasoning.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. If using an air fryer, preheat to 400°F (200°C).
  4. Sear the tuna steaks for 2-3 minutes per side for medium-rare (115°F/46°C internal temperature), or longer for desired doneness. For air fryer, cook for 4-6 minutes, flipping halfway.
  5. Let the tuna rest for a few minutes before serving.
  6. Serve with avocado-mango salsa if desired.

Notes

  • For medium tuna, aim for an internal temperature of 125°F (52°C).
  • For well-done tuna, aim for an internal temperature of 135°F (57°C).
  • This recipe is great for meal prep; marinate the tuna ahead of time.
  • Consider this a healthy tuna recipe option.
