Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground beef
1 pound Italian sausage
1 large onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 (28 ounce) cans crushed tomatoes
2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
12 lasagna noodles
16 ounces ricotta cheese
1 egg
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 pound mozzarella cheese, shredded
Instructions
In a large pot, cook ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and water. Add parsley, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
While the sauce simmers, cook lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain and rinse with cold water.
In a medium bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and Parmesan cheese.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Arrange 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce.
Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles.
Top with one-third of the mozzarella cheese.
Spoon about one-third of the remaining meat sauce over the mozzarella.
