- 2 pounds ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup ketchup, plus more for topping
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, eggs, salt, pepper, 1/4 cup ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme.
- Mix the ingredients gently with your hands until just combined. Do not overmix, as this can make the meatloaf tough.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf shape on a baking sheet or in a loaf pan.
- Spread additional ketchup evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake for 60-75 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can add 1/4 cup of finely chopped bell pepper or celery with the onion.
- If you don’t have breadcrumbs, you can use crushed crackers or oats.
- Serve with mashed potatoes and your favorite vegetables for a complete meal.
