Ingredients
Scale
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sour cream
1 (6.5 ounce) can minced clams, drained well
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup finely chopped green onions (scallions)
Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream. Use a hand mixer or a sturdy spoon to beat them together until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
Add the drained minced clams, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder to the cream cheese mixture. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
Fold in the chopped green onions.
Taste the dip and season with salt and pepper as needed. Remember that clams can sometimes be salty.
Cover the bowl and refrigerate the clam dip for at least one hour before serving. Chilling allows the flavors to meld together.
Serve your cold seafood dip with potato chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables.
Notes
For the best texture, make sure you drain the canned clams thoroughly before adding them to the dip base. Press them gently between paper towels if necessary.
If you prefer a tangier clam dip, substitute half of the sour cream with plain Greek yogurt.
This recipe is excellent for making ahead; it keeps well in the refrigerator for up to three days.
