Create a classic, crowd-pleasing appetizer using just three simple components. These sausage balls are perfect for parties, game days, or a quick savory snack.

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage, uncooked
  • 1 cup Bisquick baking mix
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the uncooked breakfast sausage, Bisquick baking mix, and shredded sharp cheddar cheese.
  3. Mix the ingredients thoroughly using your hands until they are just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Roll the mixture into small, uniform balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a small space between each ball.
  5. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the sausage balls are golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly on the baking sheet before serving warm.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use half pork sausage and half turkey sausage.
  • You can prepare the dough ahead of time, roll the balls, and store them covered in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking.
  • These freeze well. Place baked or unbaked balls on a tray to freeze solid, then transfer to a freezer bag for long-term storage.
