Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 pound lump crab meat, drained and picked over
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease an 8-inch pie dish or small baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and sour cream until smooth.
  3. Stir in the cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, and black pepper until well mixed.
  4. Gently fold in the lump crab meat, taking care not to break up the lumps too much.
  5. Spread the crab mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the dip is hot throughout and the top is lightly golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.
  8. Garnish with fresh chopped chives. Serve warm with crackers, toasted baguette slices, or vegetable sticks.

Notes

  • For an extra rich flavor, you can substitute half the mayonnaise with cream cheese.
  • If you prefer a spicier dip, add 1/4 teaspoon of hot sauce to the mixture.
  • This dip is excellent made ahead; cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours, then add 5-10 minutes to the baking time.
