Make a rich, comforting pasta dish with garlic and Parmesan cheese using just one pot for simple cleanup. This recipe delivers a velvety sauce quickly.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz linguine or spaghetti
  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place the pasta, broth, minced garlic, and butter into a large, deep skillet or Dutch oven.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and cook, stirring frequently, for about 10 to 12 minutes, or until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed, creating a starchy base.
  4. Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the heavy cream and the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  5. Season with salt and pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  6. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
  • If the sauce seems too thick, add a splash of reserved pasta water or milk to reach your desired consistency.
  • This recipe is a great option when you are considering meal planning for busy weeknights.
