Create rich, savory Garlic Butter Rice quickly on the stovetop. This recipe elevates plain rice with butter, fresh garlic, and broth for a flavorful side dish perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup long grain white rice, uncooked
  • 1 3/4 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil and 2 tablespoons of the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.
  3. Add the uncooked rice to the saucepan and toast, stirring constantly, for 2 minutes until the edges of the grains look translucent.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  5. Once boiling, immediately reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan tightly with a lid, and simmer for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
  6. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it stand, covered, for an additional 10 minutes. This step helps the rice steam and become fluffy.
  7. Remove the lid, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, and fluff the rice gently with a fork.
  8. Stir in the fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For extra richness, substitute half of the chicken broth with heavy cream for a creamier texture.
  • If you prefer a deeper flavor, use brown butter instead of regular melted butter for the final addition.
  • This **buttery rice recipe** pairs well with roasted chicken or grilled fish.
