Create this rich, fudgy dessert bread that combines the deep flavor of brownies with the comforting shape of a loaf. Swirl in hot fudge sauce for an irresistibly gooey center.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup hot fudge sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a standard 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, combine the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk. Mix until just combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Mix with a spatula until just incorporated. Do not overmix; a few streaks of flour are acceptable.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Drizzle half of the hot fudge sauce evenly over the batter layer.
  7. Spoon the remaining batter over the fudge layer. Top with the remaining hot fudge sauce, using a knife or skewer to gently swirl the fudge into the top layer of batter for a marbled effect.
  8. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs attached, not wet batter.
  9. Let the brownie bread cool in the pan for 15 minutes before carefully turning it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Slice and serve this decadent chocolate dessert bread warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For an extra rich experience, use high-quality dark cocoa powder in the batter.
  • If you want a truly bakery style brownie loaf, do not overbake; the fudgy texture relies on slight underbaking.
  • Serve warm slices with vanilla ice cream for the ultimate comfort food chocolate dessert.
