Create a satisfying, cheesy lasagna experience without the fuss of layering. This quick lasagna casserole uses frozen ravioli as a shortcut, making it a perfect family favorite for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (25 ounce) package frozen cheese ravioli
  • 1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the marinara sauce, water, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder. Stir well.
  3. Add the frozen ravioli to the sauce mixture and gently toss to coat them completely. Pour this mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a separate medium bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, and Parmesan cheese until smooth.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the ricotta mixture evenly over the top of the ravioli and sauce layer. Do not spread it out; small dollops work best.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the ricotta dollops.
  7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly browned, and the sauce is hot throughout.
  8. Let the casserole rest for 5 to 10 minutes before serving. This helps the dish set.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute ground beef or Italian sausage cooked with the marinara sauce.
  • If you prefer cottage cheese over ricotta, you may substitute it cup for cup.
  • Serve this easy lasagna recipe with a simple green salad and crusty bread for a complete meal.
