Create these soft, creamy orange cream cheese mints. They feature a bright citrus flavor from fresh zest and melt in your mouth, making them perfect for holiday goodie trays or parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 4 cups confectioners’ sugar, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract
  • 1 tablespoon fresh orange zest
  • 12 drops orange food coloring (optional)
  • Extra confectioners’ sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Combine the softened cream cheese, 4 cups of sifted confectioners’ sugar, orange extract, and fresh orange zest in a large bowl.
  2. Mix the ingredients using a hand mixer or stand mixer on low speed until fully combined and a stiff dough forms. If using, add the orange food coloring now and mix until the color is uniform.
  3. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This step makes the dough easier to handle.
  4. Place extra confectioners’ sugar on a plate or shallow dish for rolling.
  5. Scoop out small portions of the chilled dough (about 1 teaspoon each). Roll each portion between your palms into a small ball or shape it using a small candy mold.
  6. Roll the shaped mints in the extra confectioners’ sugar until lightly coated.
  7. Place the finished mints on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Refrigerate the mints for at least 1 hour before serving to allow them to set completely.

Notes

  • For the best flavor, use fresh orange zest rather than relying only on extract.
  • If the dough feels too soft to shape, return it to the refrigerator for another 15 minutes.
  • Store these homemade candy gifts in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
  • You can use small candy molds for elegant, uniform shapes for your party candy.
