Create the ultimate handheld dessert by wrapping warm, spiced peach cobbler filling inside crispy egg roll wrappers. This fusion recipe delivers the comfort of Southern cobbler in a portable, golden shell, perfect for parties or a unique sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (21 ounce) can peach pie filling
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 12 egg roll wrappers
  • Vegetable oil, for frying (or cooking spray for baking/air frying)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
  • Optional: Vanilla glaze or vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Peach Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the entire can of peach pie filling, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, nutmeg, and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar. Mix gently until the spices are incorporated into the peaches.
  2. Assemble the Egg Rolls: Lay an egg roll wrapper flat on your work surface with a corner pointing toward you (diamond orientation). Lightly moisten the edges of the wrapper with water using your finger.
  3. Place about 2 tablespoons of the peach filling near the bottom corner. Fold the bottom corner up over the filling. Fold in the left and right corners toward the center.
  4. Roll the package tightly upward toward the top corner. Moisten the final top corner with water to seal the egg roll shut. Repeat with remaining filling and wrappers.
  5. Prepare the Coating: In a shallow dish, mix the 1/2 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon for the coating.
  6. Cook the Egg Rolls (Frying Method): Heat 1 to 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Carefully place 3-4 egg rolls into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2 to 3 minutes per side, turning until they are golden brown and crispy.
  7. Cook the Egg Rolls (Air Fryer Method): Lightly spray the assembled egg rolls with cooking spray. Place them in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Air fry at 380°F (195°C) for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crisp.
  8. Cook the Egg Rolls (Baking Method): Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly spray the egg rolls with cooking spray and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown.
  9. Coat the Egg Rolls: Immediately after cooking, while the egg rolls are still hot, roll them gently in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
  10. Serve immediately while warm, optionally with a vanilla glaze or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • For an extra impressive presentation, prepare a simple vanilla glaze by whisking 1 cup of powdered sugar with 2 tablespoons of milk and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Drizzle over the warm egg rolls.
  • If you prefer a less sweet filling, use fresh or frozen sliced peaches instead of pie filling, and add 1/4 cup of brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of cornstarch to the fruit mixture before cooking slightly on the stovetop to thicken.
  • These sweet dessert appetizers freeze well. Cool completely, then place in a freezer-safe bag. Reheat in the air fryer or oven until crisp.
