Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Make tender, shredded pulled pork in your slow cooker. This easy recipe is perfect for sandwiches, tacos, or a main dish.

  • 34 lb boneless pork shoulder (Boston butt)
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Pat the pork shoulder dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
  3. Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.
  4. Place the seasoned pork shoulder in your slow cooker.
  5. In another small bowl, whisk together barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce.
  6. Pour the sauce mixture over the pork in the slow cooker.
  7. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or on high for 4-5 hours, until the pork is fork-tender.
  8. Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
  9. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and stir it into the sauce.
  10. Serve hot on buns or as desired.

Notes

  • For a smoky flavor, use a smoker or add a teaspoon of liquid smoke to the sauce.
  • Adjust the amount of barbecue sauce and brown sugar to your preference.
  • This pulled pork is great for meal planning and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for longer storage.
