This recipe delivers all the flavor of your favorite spicy crab sushi roll in a convenient bowl format. It is quick to assemble, perfect for weeknight dinners, and ideal for meal prep.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked sushi rice, seasoned
  • 8 ounces imitation crab meat (kani), shredded
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Sriracha (adjust for heat preference)
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 medium cucumber, diced
  • 1 ripe avocado, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sushi rice according to package directions and season it with a mixture of rice vinegar and a pinch of sugar and salt. Let it cool slightly.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the shredded imitation crab meat, mayonnaise, Sriracha, toasted sesame oil, rice vinegar, and soy sauce. Mix gently until the crab is evenly coated in the spicy sauce. This is your creamy spicy mayo sauce mixture.
  3. Divide the seasoned sushi rice evenly between two serving bowls. This forms the base for your deconstructed sushi bowl.
  4. Arrange the toppings over the rice. Place the spicy crab mixture on one side of the bowl.
  5. Arrange the diced cucumber and sliced avocado neatly around the crab mixture.
  6. Garnish the entire bowl with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve immediately for a quick asian dinner.

Notes

  • For a low-carb option, substitute the sushi rice with cauliflower rice.
  • If you prefer a richer flavor, use real crab meat instead of imitation crab.
  • You can prepare the spicy crab salad mixture ahead of time for easy lunch assembly.
