A hearty, shareable pizza dough roll filled with Italian meats, cheese, and vegetables, baked to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1/2 cup sliced salami
  • 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle, about 12×16 inches.
  3. Spread the marinara sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border on all sides.
  4. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  5. Layer the pepperoni, salami, green bell pepper, and onion over the cheese.
  6. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with oregano.
  7. Carefully roll up the dough, starting from one of the long sides, jelly-roll style. Pinch the seams to seal the fillings inside. Tuck in the ends.
  8. Place the stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Brush the top with the beaten egg wash. Cut a few slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  11. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Serve with extra marinara sauce for dipping.
  • You can customize the fillings with your favorite meats, cheeses, and vegetables.
  • For a crispier crust, you can bake directly on a pizza stone.
