A quick and flavorful recipe for perfectly seared tuna steaks, featuring a bright lemon-herb marinade.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tuna steaks (about 6 oz each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, and thyme.
  2. Place tuna steaks in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Let marinate for 15-30 minutes at room temperature.
  3. Season tuna steaks with salt and pepper.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add a small amount of oil if your skillet is not non-stick.
  5. Sear tuna steaks for 1.5-2 minutes per side for rare, or longer for more well-done.
  6. Remove from skillet and let rest for a minute before serving.

Notes

  • For a different flavor profile, try adding a pinch of red pepper flakes to the marinade.
  • Tuna is best served rare to medium-rare. Avoid overcooking to maintain its texture and flavor.
  • This dish pairs well with a simple side salad or roasted vegetables.
