Meet Catherine

I’m Catherine Valdès, the founder, recipe developer, and storyteller behind Unfold Recipes.

My love for food was born in a kitchen that celebrated two worlds. Growing up, our home was filled with the vibrant aromas of my mother’s sunny Californian cooking and the rich, soulful flavors of my father’s Spanish heritage. I learned early on that food was our family’s love language—a way to connect, to share, and to celebrate every day.

While I started my career in public relations, telling stories for major brands, I found the best stories were the ones being told in my own kitchen after a long day. It was my creative escape and my greatest passion.

So, I decided to take a leap of faith. I traded my corporate life for a chef’s coat, enrolling in culinary school to give my lifelong passion a professional foundation. It was the best decision I ever made.

Unfold Recipes is the culmination of that journey—a place where my love for storytelling and my formal culinary training come together. It’s my joy to share this with you.
